Suit of Cups - The Emotional Self
⭐️ I have written five of the songs in the Suit of Cups. Four have been released.
The Cups are associated with water and represent a person's emotional self - their ability to feel, receive, perceive, and create. In astrology, Wands correspond with Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.
In a standard deck of playing cards, Cups are known as Hearts.
When choosing the title, I allow the song's message and overall feel to lead me to the best descriptor, which is often apparent within the first 24 hours of the song's creation. When I began this project, I didn't know if the songs would get separate titles or if I would refer to them solely by their card name. The Universe gave me titles for each song, so Song Title / Card Name is the naming convention I follow. Having lived through so much physical hardship, I find the card emotions easy to access. I have journaled and written poetry all my life. I love words. I love writing. I love connecting sound and rhyme. In 2023, I purchased my very first brand new acoustic piano. I am finally able to write my songs with proper sound energy produced when strings resonate.
